After a series of very fruitful meetings at the Hannover Messe 2010 in April, we are delighted that first product training took place at the premises of our newest distributor in August. We shall be announcing details in due course, but have been discussing opportunities with this organisation for several years and mutually feel that the time is now right to launch the deegee products into their market.
In fact, this distributor brought one of their clients to the Hannover 2010 booth to evaluate a new product concept we had designed specifically for them; they were thrilled, and have already placed their initial orders.
Don’t forget – we are at SPS/IPC/Drives in November!
D. G. Controls Ltd has been an Investor in People for 10 years this year, and still takes its certification seriously, part of which is providing training as necessary to develop individuals in their roles.
It is therefore our great pleasure to congratulate Angie Beal, Caran Gibson and Carol Hartley from our manufacturing team on their being awarded the NVQ Performing Manufacturing Operations. Evaluation of the ladies took place over the duration of six months, and involved group and individual discussions with the tutor, observations of the ladies working at various aspects of their day-to-day jobs, and assessment of their written responses to questions about why and how they do their jobs in a certain way. The PMO NVQ qualification recognises the individual’s understanding of their role within the organisation, their responsibility to Health & Safety in the workplace, and most importantly that they understand how to do their jobs and the impact of effective performance.
Somewhat nervous before they started the course, the awarding of the NVQ is just reward for the hard work these ladies put in, and is particularly well-deserved as they had all left school with no formal qualifications. Angie put it well, saying “It was quite difficult at first to understand some of the questions, with not having done anything like this before, but I soon got into my stride and quite enjoyed it. It has given me a lot more insight into how the business works, and I am really quite chuffed to have been awarded one.”
Hats-off to you, ladies, and well done.
At its second exhibition of 2010, June saw D. G. Controls back at MACH, the UK’s leading manufacturing technologies exhibition. Held at the NEC Birmingham, MACH is recognised as a shop window for all types of machines and equipment used in engineering based manufacturing.
An integral part of the marketing strategy, exhibitions are a great opportunity to show much of the deegee catalogue of enclosures and circuit technologies, and prove a worthwhile forum at which to discuss specific product requirements with the deegee sales team.
MACH is a biennial event hosted by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), a UK based trade association dealing specifically with engineering based manufacturing. D. G. Controls has been part of the MTA since 2008, when it first exhibited at MACH.
The week at MACH proved especially fruitful with a number of discussions with one of the UK’s leading automotive manufacturers regarding the deegee stacking beacon ANDON range. With a portfolio which includes LED, xenon and filament technology, and being the only beacon company to offer 7 different colours and a sounder unit, the deegee stacker is wholly versatile for all your signalling requirements.
