This week, deegee had the pleasure of hosting our first ever International Innovation Event.
We were joined by a number of our largest Overseas Distributors, who travelled from all over Europe to participate in discussions.
Dinner and drinks were enjoyed at Burton on Trents largest Oriental Restaurant on the evening prior to the event, with the main event held at our central office, based in the heart of Derbyshire.
With the gentlemen arriving prepared with some outstanding ideas, the day consisted of many hearty discussions, presentations, suggestions, laughter, and copious amounts of sharing – the atmosphere could only be described as nothing other than, electric.
It was interesting to hear the application ideas that were shared along with product suitability, which proved extremely useful for all. New product ideas were discussed, along with a brand new product launch!
We were completely blown away by the commitment and participation displayed in abundance throughout the day, as we were reminded how privileged we are to be working alongside people who share such values.
A huge thank you to all that attended – we very much look forward to hosting our next event!
Could you imagine a world without light? Light is very important to us, most especially when doing our daily tasks. It is also everywhere we go. We really on it hugely through vision, enabling us to see where we are going. The most important source of light that we have is the sun. There is no denying that the sun is what lets us see the real beauty of the world. Aside from the sun, there are some other important light sources, just like the LED or light emitting diode, and the laser. All of these has been a huge part of lives. They, in fact, are beneficial in providing additional security and safety.
One of which is the PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon, which has a number of advantages.
What is a PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon?
The PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon is a device that’s beneficial in producing regular light flashes. It is actually just one of the so many devices, designed for emergency warning purposes. The common commercial xenon actually has a flash energy ranging from 10 up to 150 joules. Also, it may have a certain discharge time of about seconds. This now, is what results in the flash power of numerous kilowatts. Furthermore, it actually has the same visual effect as the xenon strobe.
The light source of the PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon is obviously the light emitting diode or LED. We know that it is a semiconductor source with two lead of light that produces light when a certain junction diode is activated. Furthermore, when a specific current is being applied into its leads, the electrons will combine once more with the holes of the electron in the device. Therefore, energy discharge takes place in the protons form of. This process is what they technically call as the electroluminescence. In addition, the colour of the light depends on the gap on the energy band of the semiconductor.
Applications of PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon
The PSC/STL beacon can be used in a variety of different applications, where a standard xenon strobe beacon would be used, such as fire evacuation warnings and emergency situations.
Advantages of PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon
Here are some of the most staggering advantages of the PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon:
- Low Voltage: With the PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon, there are zero restrictions on where the LED lighting may be used. Not just that, since it has a low voltage power supply, it can be sufficient. Furthermore, it is also suitable for various outdoor and indoor applications. As a matter of fact, the use of the LED technology in it allows versatility and diversity.
- Instant lighting: Since LED technology offers an instant lighting, it makes for a better use. While the xenon strobe may delay slightly, the light emitting diodes brighten up in an instant when you activate it.
- Ecologically friendly: Since LEDs are way longer lasting than the xenon strobe bulbs, there is so much lesser waste in the material. Furthermore, they are also free of chemicals that are toxic, therefore helping the environment.
- Sharp and crisp details: The LEDs as we know has the capacity to run in as much higher flash rate than the xenon strobes. This is even without losing the intensity that is necessary with the xenon.
- More consistent: The output light of the LED is much more stable and there is no arc wander in it. Not just that, there is also no flash-to-flash variation that is connected with the light sources of xenon.
- Durable: The LEDs are shock resistant, and is also resilient to external impacts and vibrations. They are also extremely durable and may withstand even in rough conditions.
- Light dispersement: With the use of LEDs, a much higher application effectiveness may be attained. This is since they are specially designed to focus lights. Thus it can be directed to a certain location even with no use of an external reflector. This is what gives a very focused beam of light, thus increasing the efficiency.
- Less maintenance: Since LEDs have a longer lasting life than the xenon bulbs, it is cost efficient.
- Energy efficient: The LEDs have an energy efficiency of about 80 to 90%. This means that the major electrical energy is converted to light.
The PSC/STL LED Strobe Beacon, undeniably has the capacity of joining several units together when necessary, to deliver an integrated signalling system.

A wide range of modular stacking, or click-together beacon lamps, often referred to as Andon lights, is an ideal product suited for both external and internal multi-status signalling applications. These products are also commonly used on different types of machinery for drawing attention to warning messages and fault conditions by providing a visual alarm. In this way, it will be beneficial for the facility or business to minimise avoidable periods of non-productivity.
To ease the task of stockist or distributors, system integrators and design and maintenance engineers, this modular approach enables the stacked beacons to be constructed from any combination of module types. The all-inclusive range builds from a terminal module or common base and offers different choices of visual indicator modules such as Xenon strobe, pulsed and static filament lamp, rotating, pulse and static LED, as well as an audible sounder module.
How does it work?
Modular stacking beacons can be best used in a wide-range of applications in terms of multi-status signalling applications. It is commonly used to make a tower for up to 6 modules high and of which can be used as a single indicator or used as a sounder module.
All external parts are moulded from UV-stabilised and engineering-grade polycarbonate that can contribute to an enhanced durability and effectiveness as well. Wall mounting brackets and pole mounts are also available to complement the range.
What are the different components of a stacked beacon system?
Here are the different essential components that every tower beacon should have.
Base units
The base unit or the bottom-most part of the tower has a terminal block for wiring, top cover and gasket in order to support the whole tower construction.
Light modules
Light modules can be available in different colours and different types of lamps or light module, including LED, xenon strobe, and incandescent lamps.
Audible Alarm Modules
Audible alarm modules are also available if required, which should be attached to the top-most area of a completed tower unit, or alternatively, it can be directly attached to the stack light base.
Assembling a stacking beacon system
The stacking tower can be easily assembled mainly because it offers a simple twist and click locking mechanism. The electrical connections are incorporated into the vertical interlocking system of the stacked beacon or tower. This will enable the end user to assemble or build a choice of the tower in a quick and simple way. One of the advantages of using this modular system is that the base unit can be installed and wired, leaving the light modules to be chosen and fitted at a later date or in the future use whenever its necessary. This could be ideal for fitting any of them around a factory or a facility.
When removing or disassembling the tower, it is also pretty easy. The modular construction of these towers also allows quick removal of the different units or components for maintenance. This will avoid and completely minimise any disruption, especially when you are using the tower as an indication of a machine status. Beacons can be assembled or set up in a wide variety of configurations and techniques. Colour, mounting options, numerous lamps can further enhance the stacked beacons or towers versatility in any application that includes signalling.
Conclusion:
Stacking beacons can be highly protective once they are tightly and securely constructed from the base. The quality and durability of each of the different modules and the base, can have a big impact on the overall effectiveness of the stacking light tower.
Choosing the right product which is both excellent quality and durable, could definitely ensure you and your facility’s safety and security by providing you a relevant and attention-grabbing warning signal in case of any dangers, machine failures, and warnings that may occur.
